TL;DR
This paper describes an extension to the TRIUMF M13 pion beam channel that improves pion purity by suppressing positrons and introduces a new method for beam momentum calibration using pion decay.
Contribution
It presents a novel extension of the TRIUMF M13 pion channel with enhanced positron suppression and a new beam calibration technique based on pion decay.
Findings
Enhanced pion beam purity achieved
Effective positron suppression demonstrated
New beam calibration method validated
Abstract
An extension of the TRIUMF M13 low-energy pion channel designed to suppress positrons based on an energy-loss technique is described. A source of beam channel momentum calibration from the decay pi+ --> e+ nu is also described.
