The effect of the Tides on the LIGO Interferometers
Adrian Melissinos (for the LSC)

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that tidal forces cause measurable modulation in the LIGO interferometers' dark port power at specific frequencies with high precision, highlighting the influence of environmental factors on gravitational wave detectors.
Contribution
It provides precise measurements of tidal effects on LIGO interferometers, revealing a direct correlation between tidal frequencies and power modulation.
Findings
Dark port power modulated at tidal frequencies
Modulation precision of 6e-9 Hz
Tidal effects influence interferometer signals
Abstract
We present data on the modulation of the dark port power at the free spectral range frequency of the LIGO 4 km interferometers. It is found that the power is modulated exactly at the tidal frequencies to a precision of 6e-9 Hz.
