TL;DR
This paper emphasizes the significance of understanding meso-scale structures in complex multi-scale systems, highlighting common mechanisms across different fields and proposing a general modeling approach.
Contribution
It introduces a unified perspective on meso-scale phenomena and discusses a general approach to multi-scale modeling applicable across various systems.
Findings
Identifies common mechanisms for meso-scale formation
Highlights the importance of meso-scale resolution in models
Proposes a general multi-scale modeling approach
Abstract
This short communication analyzes the importance of resolving meso-scale structure in a complex system with multi-scale structure. Similar mechanisms for the formation of meso-scale structures in different systems are found and a general approach to established multi-scale models for such systems is discussed.
