Huanyang Chen, Rong-Xin Miao, and Miao Li

TL;DR
This paper uses transformation optics to create metamaterials that mimic the properties of a Schwarzschild black hole, including the photon sphere, and proposes simplified models for practical realization.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of transformation optics to simulate Schwarzschild black holes and proposes simplified models for experimental implementation.
Findings
Photon sphere properties were numerically demonstrated.
Reduced models facilitate easier experimental realization.
Metamaterial black holes mimic gravitational black hole properties.
Abstract
We applied the transformation optics to mimic a black hole of Schwarzschild form. Similar properties of photon sphere were also found numerically for the metamaterial black hole. Several reduced versions of the black hole systems were proposed for easier implementations.
