Fluctuations of Electromagnetic Field at the Interface Between Media
Ladislav Samaj, Bernard Jancovici

TL;DR
This paper investigates the classical and quantum fluctuations of surface charge at media interfaces, considering both retarded and non-retarded regimes, to understand long-range correlations of electromagnetic fields.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive analysis of surface charge fluctuations at media interfaces, incorporating quantum effects and electromagnetic retardation.
Findings
Long-range correlations depend on dielectric properties.
Quantum effects influence fluctuation behavior.
Retarded and non-retarded regimes show distinct fluctuation characteristics.
Abstract
This work is about fluctuations of the surface charge between two media with distinct dielectric functions. The long-range correlation of the surface charge fluctuations is treated classically and quantum mechanically, in the non-retarded and retarded regimes.
