TL;DR
This paper reports preliminary findings on ultra-compact dwarf galaxies in the Antlia cluster, highlighting their intermediate properties between globular clusters and dwarf galaxies and discussing their uncertain origins.
Contribution
First investigation of UCD galaxies in the Antlia cluster, providing initial data on their characteristics and potential origins.
Findings
Identification of UCD candidates in Antlia cluster
UCD properties are intermediate between globular clusters and dwarf galaxies
Uncertain origin of UCDs remains a key question
Abstract
We present preliminary results of the search for Ultra-compact dwarf galaxies in the central region of the Antlia cluster. This new kind of stellar system has brightness, mass and size between those observed in globular clusters and early-type dwarf galaxies, but their origin is not well understood yet.
