Updating Boer-Mulders functions from unpolarized pd and pp Drell-Yan data
Zhun Lu, Ivan Schmidt

TL;DR
This paper extracts the Boer-Mulders functions for the proton from unpolarized pd and pp Drell-Yan data, and predicts future asymmetries in upcoming experiments, advancing understanding of transverse momentum dependent distributions.
Contribution
It provides a new extraction of Boer-Mulders functions from existing data and offers predictions for future experiments, improving the phenomenological modeling of transverse spin effects.
Findings
Extracted Boer-Mulders functions from E866/NuSea data.
Predicted $oldsymbol{ ext{cos } 2 ext{ }oldsymbol{ ext{phi}}}$ asymmetries for future experiments.
Enhanced understanding of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions.
Abstract
We extract the Boer-Mulders functions for the proton by combining the unpolarized pd and pp Drell-Yan data measured by the E866/NuSea Collaboration by the assumption that the asymmetry is from the Boer-Mulders function. Using the extracted Boer-Mulders functions, we present the predictions for the asymmetries in future pp experiments at J-PARC and experiments at PANDA and PAX.
