Layering in Crumpled Sheets
David Aristoff, Charles Radin

TL;DR
This paper presents a toy model of crumpled sheets demonstrating a first order phase transition from a disordered state to a layered phase through simulation.
Contribution
It introduces a simplified model of crumpled sheets and identifies a phase transition using simulation techniques.
Findings
First order phase transition observed in the model
Transition from disordered to layered phase
Simulation confirms phase change behavior
Abstract
We introduce a toy model of crumpled sheets. We use simulation to show there is a first order phase transition in the model, from a disordered dilute phase to a mixture with a layered phase.
