TL;DR
This paper reports on the radiation hardness of LFS-3 scintillating crystals, demonstrating their resilience to high doses of radiation, making them suitable for electromagnetic calorimeters in high-radiation environments.
Contribution
It introduces LFS-3 as a new scintillator with exceptional radiation resistance, validated through extensive irradiation testing.
Findings
No optical transmission deterioration after 23 Mrad irradiation
LFS-3 maintains performance under high radiation doses
Potential for use in high-radiation calorimeter applications
Abstract
Radiation damage of new heavy LFS-3 scintillating crystals has been studied using powerful source at the dose rate of 4 Krad/min. No deterioration in optical transmission of LFS-3 crystals was observed after irradiation with the dose of 23 Mrad.
