Pascal Anastasopoulos (Tor Vergata & CERN), Andrea Lionetto (Tor, Vergata)

TL;DR
This paper explores how specific D-brane configurations in string theory can naturally produce the observed hierarchies of quark masses and mixings in the Standard Model, providing a potential string-theoretic explanation.
Contribution
It introduces a bottom-up D-brane setup that successfully generates realistic quark mass and mixing hierarchies within orientifold models.
Findings
A brane configuration that reproduces quark mass hierarchies
Demonstration of mixing patterns consistent with observations
Potential string theory realization of Standard Model features
Abstract
This proceeding is based on arXiv:0905.3044. We analyze the problem of the hierarchy of masses and mixings in orientifold realizations of the Standard Model. We present a bottom-up brane configuration that can generate such hierarchies.
