V. P. Goncalves, W. K. Sauter

TL;DR
This paper investigates diffractive J/ψ photoproduction with large momentum transfer in coherent hadron-hadron interactions at the LHC, using the BFKL equation to estimate cross sections and rapidity distributions, predicting measurable rates.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed estimate of diffractive J/ψ production at high momentum transfer in coherent hadron collisions at LHC energies using the non-forward BFKL approach.
Findings
Predicted large production rates at LHC energies.
Estimated rapidity distributions and total cross sections.
Feasibility of experimental detection at the LHC.
Abstract
The vector meson production in coherent hadron-hadron interactions at LHC energies is studied assuming that the color singlet -channel exchange carries large momentum transfer. We consider the non-forward solution of the BFKL equation at high energy and large momentum transfer and estimate the rapidity distribution and total cross section for the process , where can be a proton or a nucleus. We predict large rates, which implies that the experimental identification can be feasible at the LHC.
