Introduction to Bioinformatics
Sabu M. Thampi

TL;DR
Bioinformatics is an emerging interdisciplinary field combining genomics, biotechnology, and IT to analyze and interpret large-scale biological data, develop algorithms, and model biological phenomena.
Contribution
This paper provides an introductory overview of bioinformatics, highlighting its scope, challenges, and the integration of various scientific disciplines.
Findings
Bioinformatics addresses the management of large genomic datasets.
It integrates genomics, biotechnology, and information technology.
The discipline develops algorithms for biological data analysis.
Abstract
Bioinformatics is a new discipline that addresses the need to manage and interpret the data that in the past decade was massively generated by genomic research. This discipline represents the convergence of genomics, biotechnology and information technology, and encompasses analysis and interpretation of data, modeling of biological phenomena, and development of algorithms and statistics. This article presents an introduction to bioinformatics
