Perfect imaging with positive refraction in three dimensions
Ulf Leonhardt, Thomas G. Philbin

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that Maxwell's fish eye lens in three dimensions can achieve unlimited electromagnetic wave resolution, confirming its potential as a perfect imaging device beyond ray optics limitations.
Contribution
It provides a rigorous solution to Maxwell's equations showing 3D Maxwell's fish eye lens achieves perfect imaging with unlimited resolution.
Findings
Unlimited resolution in 3D Maxwell's fish eye lens
Validation of perfect imaging beyond ray optics
Theoretical proof based on Maxwell's equations
Abstract
Maxwell's fish eye has been known to be a perfect lens within the validity range of ray optics since 1854. Solving Maxwell's equations we show that the fish-eye lens in three dimensions has unlimited resolution for electromagnetic waves.
