Dynamic States of Cellular flames
Michael Gorman

TL;DR
This paper explores the dynamic behaviors of cellular flames on a circular burner, showcasing transitions from ordered patterns to coordinated moving states through fluid dynamics videos.
Contribution
It provides visual documentation of various dynamic states of cellular flames, highlighting the transition from static to moving patterns in premixed flames.
Findings
Ordered cellular flame patterns bifurcate into dynamic states.
Cells exhibit coordinated motion in the dynamic states.
Visual evidence of flame pattern transitions is presented.
Abstract
A premixed flame on a circular porous plug burner can form cellular flames, which are ordered patterns of concentric rings of brighter, hotter regions separated by darker, cooler cusps and folds. These ordered states bifurcate to dynamic states in which the cells move in coordinated motion. Fluid dynamics videos of representative examples of these states will be presented. Videos of all the dynamic states of premixed flames can be found at [http://www.uh.edu/~mgorman].
