Pion reactions with few-nucleon systems
Vadim Baru

TL;DR
This paper discusses recent effective field theory results on pion production in nucleon-nucleon interactions and explores charge symmetry breaking in pn -> d pi^0 to understand neutron-proton mass differences.
Contribution
It provides new insights into pion production mechanisms and proposes using charge symmetry breaking to extract the strong neutron-proton mass difference.
Findings
Effective field theory describes s- and p-wave pion production.
Charge symmetry breaking in pn -> d pi^0 can reveal the strong neutron-proton mass difference.
Results enhance understanding of nucleon-nucleon interactions and pion production processes.
Abstract
We report about the recent results for s- and p-wave pion production in NN -> NNpi within effective field theory and discuss how the charge symmetry breaking in pn -> d pi^0 can be used to extract the strong contribution to the neutron-proton mass difference.
