Baby Skyrmions stabilized by canonical quantization
A.Acus, E. Norvaisas, Ya. Shnir

TL;DR
This paper investigates how canonical quantization affects the stability of Baby Skyrmions in the O(3) sigma-model, showing that quantum corrections can stabilize solutions even without a potential.
Contribution
It demonstrates that quantum effects via canonical quantization can stabilize Baby Skyrmions, extending understanding of their stability mechanisms.
Findings
Quantum corrections can stabilize Baby Skyrmions without potential.
Numerical evidence supports stabilization for charge n=1,2 configurations.
Parameter ranges for stabilization are identified.
Abstract
We analyse the effect of the canonical quantization of the rotational mode of the O(3) -model which includes the Skyrme term. Numerical evidence is presented that the quantum correction to the mass of the rotationally-invariant charge configurations may stabilize the solution even in the limit of vanishing potential. The corresponding range of values of the parameters is discussed.
