Measurements of the $\tau$ Mass and Mass Difference of the $\tau^{+}$ and $\tau^{-}$} at BaBar
The BaBar Collaboration: B. Aubert, et al

TL;DR
This paper reports a high-precision measurement of the tau lepton mass and its charge-based mass difference using BaBar data, employing a pseudomass endpoint method to achieve accurate results.
Contribution
The study provides the most precise measurement of the tau mass and its mass difference, utilizing a novel pseudomass endpoint technique with extensive BaBar data.
Findings
Tau mass measured as 1776.68 ± 0.12 (stat) ± 0.41 (syst) MeV.
Mass difference between tau+ and tau- is consistent with zero within uncertainties.
Results improve constraints on lepton mass symmetry and test CPT invariance.
Abstract
We present the result from a precision measurement of the mass of the lepton, , based on of data recorded at the resonance with the BaBar detector. Using a pseudomass endpoint method, we determine the mass to be . We also measure the mass difference between the and , and obtain , where is the average value of and .
