Symbiotic Symmetries of the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model
Ernest Ma, Markos Maniatis

TL;DR
This paper introduces the concept of symbiotic symmetries in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model, revealing how multiple sectors with different symmetries coexist and persist despite mutual renormalization effects.
Contribution
It systematically characterizes all symmetries of the THDM consistent with gauge interactions using the Pauli formalism, highlighting the novel phenomenon of symbiotic symmetries.
Findings
Identification of multiple sectors with unequal symmetries
Persistence of symmetries under renormalization
Comprehensive symmetry classification for the THDM
Abstract
The new phenomenon of symbiotic symmetries is described in the context of the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (THDM). The quartic potential has two or more separate sectors with unequal symmetries, but these unequal symmetries persist even though the different sectors are renormalized by one another. We discuss all such symmetries of the THDM, consistent with the SU(2) x U(1) gauge interactions, using the Pauli formalism.
