E. A. Kuraev E. Tomasi-Gustafsson

TL;DR
This paper investigates the ratio of proton-antiproton annihilation into kaon and pion pairs near threshold, highlighting the role of vacuum excitations alongside quark rearrangements in explaining experimental data.
Contribution
It introduces the significance of vacuum excitations in p̄p annihilation processes, extending previous models that focused solely on quark rearrangements.
Findings
Good agreement with experimental data on kaon to pion yield ratios
Vacuum excitations are essential for accurate modeling of annihilation channels
Highlights the dominance of S state near threshold
Abstract
In this work we discuss the interest of measuring the ratio of of annihilation into kaon and pion pairs near the threshold region, where state dominates. It is shown that a good agreement with existing data on the ratio of the yields of charged kaon to pion pairs is obtained taking into account not only quark rearrangement in the incident hadrons, but also vacuum excitations.
