## TL;DR

This paper demonstrates that in certain lower-dimensional supergravity models, holographic counterterms required for finiteness in AdS/CFT also ensure supersymmetry without boundary conditions, unifying two aspects of the theory.

## Contribution

It reveals that holographic counterterms can be derived from local supersymmetry principles without boundary conditions, simplifying the understanding of supersymmetric AdS/CFT setups.

## Key findings

- Holographic counterterms match supersymmetry-preserving counterterms in specific models.
- Supersymmetry can be maintained without boundary conditions using these counterterms.
- The approach simplifies the construction of finite, supersymmetric AdS actions.

## Abstract

We show in some lower-dimensional supergravity models that the holographic counterterms which are needed in the AdS/CFT correspondence to make the theory finite, coincide with the counterterms that are needed to make the action supersymmetric without imposing any boundary conditions on the fields.
