Holographic counterterms from local supersymmetry without boundary conditions
Daniel Grumiller, Peter van Nieuwenhuizen

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that in certain lower-dimensional supergravity models, holographic counterterms required for finiteness in AdS/CFT also ensure supersymmetry without boundary conditions, unifying two aspects of the theory.
Contribution
It reveals that holographic counterterms can be derived from local supersymmetry principles without boundary conditions, simplifying the understanding of supersymmetric AdS/CFT setups.
Findings
Holographic counterterms match supersymmetry-preserving counterterms in specific models.
Supersymmetry can be maintained without boundary conditions using these counterterms.
The approach simplifies the construction of finite, supersymmetric AdS actions.
Abstract
We show in some lower-dimensional supergravity models that the holographic counterterms which are needed in the AdS/CFT correspondence to make the theory finite, coincide with the counterterms that are needed to make the action supersymmetric without imposing any boundary conditions on the fields.
