Thermodynamic limit for isokinetic thermostats
G. Gallavotti, E. Presutti

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that in the thermodynamic limit, the dynamics of frictionless and isokinetic thermostats become indistinguishable across one, two, and three-dimensional models in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics.
Contribution
It establishes the equivalence of frictionless and isokinetic thermostats in the thermodynamic limit for low-dimensional models, advancing understanding of thermostat models.
Findings
Frictionless and isokinetic thermostats behave identically in the thermodynamic limit.
The result applies to models in space dimensions 1, 2, and 3.
The study clarifies the relationship between different thermostat types in statistical mechanics.
Abstract
Thermostats models in space dimension for nonequilibrium statistical mechanics are considered and it is shown that, in the thermodynamic limit, the motions of frictionless thermostats and isokinetic thermostats coincide.
