Segmentation for radar images based on active contour
Meijun Zhu, Pengfei Zhang

TL;DR
This paper introduces a novel active contour segmentation method tailored for radar images, effectively distinguishing meteorological features from noise by modifying the Chan-Vese functional.
Contribution
The paper proposes a new active contour model specifically designed for radar image segmentation, addressing the unique properties of radar data.
Findings
Effective separation of noise from meteorological features
Improved segmentation accuracy for radar images
Efficient computational performance
Abstract
We exam various geometric active contour methods for radar image segmentation. Due to special properties of radar images, we propose our new model based on modified Chan-Vese functional. Our method is efficient in separating non-meteorological noises from meteorological images.
