TL;DR
This study investigates the production of phi and D_s^+ mesons in neutrino interactions, revealing their distribution patterns and quantifying their yields, with implications for understanding meson production mechanisms.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed measurements of phi and D_s^+ meson yields in neutrino interactions and compares their production mechanisms, highlighting the role of D_s^+ decays.
Findings
Phi production occurs mainly in the forward hemisphere.
Measured phi yields exceed expectations for direct production.
D_s^+ meson yields are quantified at high energy fractions.
Abstract
The neutrinoproduction of and mesons is studied, using the data obtained with the SKAT bubble chamber at the Serpukhov accelerator. It is found that the production occurs predominantly in the forward hemisphere of the hadronic c.m.s. (at , being the Feynman variable), with the mean yield strongly exceeding the expected yield of directly produced mesons and varying from at 2 GeV up to at 2.6 GeV and at 2.9 GeV, being the invariant mass of the hadronic system. The yield of leading mesons carrying more than of the current - quark energy is estimated: at GeV, . It is shown, that the shape of the meson differential spectrum…
