M. Battaglieri, R. De Vita, A.P. Szczepaniak (for the CLAS, Collaboration)

TL;DR
This study investigates the photoproduction of $ ho(770)$, $f_0(980)$, and $f_2(1270)$ mesons on protons using CLAS detector data, providing new measurements of the $f_0(980)$ in photoproduction for the first time.
Contribution
It presents the first measurement of the $f_0(980)$ meson in photoproduction, expanding understanding of meson production mechanisms in photon-proton interactions.
Findings
Confirmed the dominance of $ ho(770)$ in P-wave
Detected $f_0(980)$ in S-wave for the first time in photoproduction
Measured differential cross sections for multiple meson states
Abstract
The exclusive reaction was studied in the photon energy range 3.0 - 3.8 GeV and momentum transfer range GeV. Data were collected with the CLAS detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. In this kinematic range the integrated luminosity was about 20 pb. The reaction was isolated by detecting the and proton in CLAS, and reconstructing the via the missing-mass technique. Moments of the di-pion decay angular distributions were derived from the experimental data. Differential cross sections for the , , and -waves in the mass range GeV were derived performing a partial wave expansion of the extracted moments. Besides the dominant contribution of the meson in the -wave, evidence for the and the mesons was found in the and…
