Nuno Barros e Sa, Augusto Barroso, Pedro Ferreira, Rui Santos

TL;DR
This paper reviews the conditions for vacuum stability in two-Higgs doublet models, focusing on the existence and coexistence of Normal minima, which can lead to complex symmetry-breaking scenarios.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive analysis of tree-level vacuum stability and the occurrence of Normal minima in various two-Higgs doublet models, highlighting potential physical implications.
Findings
Normal minima can coexist in certain potentials
Multiple symmetry-breaking pathways are possible
Vacuum stability conditions are characterized at tree level
Abstract
In this work we review the status of tree-level vacuum stability in general two-Higgs doublet models. We also discuss the problem of Normal minima in some classes of potentials. In some of these potentials, Normal minima can coexist leading to potentially dangerous physic scenarios as, for instance, a two step spontaneous symmetry breaking.
