TL;DR
This paper introduces quantum field theories and gauge symmetries, explaining their role in describing fundamental interactions like strong, electromagnetic, and weak forces for newcomers to the field.
Contribution
It provides an accessible introduction to the concepts of quantum field theories and gauge symmetries, clarifying their significance in modern physics.
Findings
Clarifies the role of gauge symmetries in fundamental interactions
Provides foundational understanding for beginners in quantum field theories
Highlights the importance of internal symmetries in physics
Abstract
Modern theories of fundamental interactions describe strong, electromagnetic and weak interactions as quantum field theories with certain kinds of embedded internal symmetries called `gauge symmetries'. This article introduces quantum field theories and gauge symmetries to the uninitiated.
