High-statistics study of ${\boldmath \eta \pi^0}$ production in two-photon collisions
S. Uehara, et al. (for the Belle Collaboration)

TL;DR
This study provides a high-statistics measurement of the differential cross section for $\gamma\gamma o \eta \pi^0$ in a broad energy range, revealing resonance parameters and comparing angular and energy dependences with related channels.
Contribution
It offers the first precise measurements of the $a_0(980)$ resonance parameters and cross section ratios, enhancing understanding of two-photon production mechanisms and meson interactions.
Findings
Clear peaks for $a_0(980)$ and $a_2(1320)$ observed.
Measured $a_0(980)$ mass, width, and $\Gamma_{\gamma\gamma} imes ext{BR}(\eta \pi^0)$.
Cross section exhibits a $W^{-n}$ dependence with $n \\approx 10.5$.
Abstract
The differential cross section for the process has been measured in the kinematic range , , where and are the energy and (or ) scattering angle, respectively, in the center-of-mass system. The results are based on a 223 fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. Clear peaks due to the and are visible. The differential cross sections are fitted in the energy region to obtain the parameters of the . Its mass, width and are measured to be 982.3 ^{+0.6}_{-0.7} ^{+3.1}_{-4.7} \MeV/c^2, and 128 ^{+3}_{-2} ^{+502}_{-43} \eV, respectively. The energy and angular dependences above 3.1 GeV are…
