On characterizations based on regression of linear combinations of record values
George P. Yanev, M. Ahsanullah

TL;DR
This paper characterizes the exponential distribution through regression relationships involving non-adjacent record values and linear combinations of record values, providing new insights into distribution characterization.
Contribution
It introduces novel characterizations of the exponential distribution based on regression of record values and their linear combinations, expanding existing distribution characterization methods.
Findings
Characterization of exponential distribution via regression of non-adjacent record values
Development of regression-based characterizations using linear combinations of record values
Theoretical insights into distribution properties based on record value regressions
Abstract
We characterize the exponential distribution in terms of the regression of a record value with non-adjacent record values as covariates. We also study characterizations based on the regression of linear combinations of record values.
