Thomas B\"ackdahl

TL;DR
This paper establishes a translation-invariant relationship between Newman-Penrose constants and Geroch-Hansen multipole moments in stationary spacetimes, linking two important formalisms in gravitational physics.
Contribution
It provides explicit expressions connecting Newman-Penrose constants to Geroch-Hansen multipole moments, enhancing understanding of their interplay in stationary spacetimes.
Findings
Newman-Penrose constants expressed in terms of multipole moments
Expressions are translation-invariant and involve moments up to quadrupole order
Constants generally do not vanish in the studied context
Abstract
In this paper, we express the Newman--Penrose constants in terms of the Geroch--Hansen multipole moments for stationary spacetimes. These expressions are translation-invariant combinations of the multipole moments up to quadrupole order, which do not normally vanish.
