F-term Uplift in Heterotic M-theory
Filipe Paccetti Correia, Michael G. Schmidt

TL;DR
This paper explores how F-term uplift mechanisms can produce stable de Sitter vacua in heterotic M-theory by tuning vector bundle moduli, Kähler potential, and gauge instantons, supported by analytical and numerical examples.
Contribution
It demonstrates the feasibility of achieving stable de Sitter vacua in heterotic M-theory through F-term uplift involving vector bundle moduli and gauge instantons, with specific tuning conditions.
Findings
Stable de Sitter vacua are achievable with suitable tuning.
Non-trivial gauge instantons are essential at both sectors.
Analytical and numerical examples support the viability.
Abstract
We investigate the viability of F-term uplift in heterotic M-theory. With this aim we explore a natural ingredient of heterotic compactifications, namely vector bundle moduli. It is shown that it is generically possible to obtain stable de Sitter vacua with broken supersymmetry provided the little Kahler potential and the prefactors of the non-perturbative superpotential are suitably tuned. An additional requirement is the existence of non-trivial gauge instantons both at the visible and hidden sectors. This is illustrated with analytical and numerical examples.
