Dilepton mass edge measurement in SUSY events with CMS
N. Mohr (RWTH Aachen University)

TL;DR
This paper investigates how to measure the dilepton mass edge in SUSY events at CMS, using simulations to evaluate the precision of the measurement under different conditions.
Contribution
It presents a detailed simulation study of the dilepton mass edge measurement in SUSY events within the mSUGRA model, including systematic and statistical uncertainties.
Findings
Measurement precision depends on the benchmark point and data volume.
Systematic uncertainties are comparable to statistical ones.
The method is viable for early LHC data with 1 fb^-1.
Abstract
Within the mSUGRA model, the observability of the decay of the next to lightest neutralino into leptons and the lightest neutralino has been studied using a full simulation of the CMS detector. The final state signature consists of two opposite sign leptons, several hard jets and missing transverse energy. The expected precision of the measurement of the dilepton mass edge is reported for 1 fb^-1 of data, including systematic and statistic uncertainties, comparing two benchmark points with different signatures.
