Positronium-like states from supergravity
Eoin \'O Colg\'ain, Hossein Yavartanoo

TL;DR
This paper investigates semi-classical rotating open strings near D-branes, modeling positronium-like bound states of W-bosons in gauge theories, and analyzes their energy-angular momentum relations.
Contribution
It introduces a string-theoretic model for positronium-like states using supergravity backgrounds and explores their properties in various D-brane configurations.
Findings
Strings exhibit specific energy-angular momentum relations.
Bound states resemble positronium in gauge theories.
Behavior varies with different D-brane backgrounds.
Abstract
We study semi-classical rotating open strings ending on a probe Dp-brane close to a stack of extremal, non-extremal Dp-branes and Dp-branes with -fields. These states may be interpreted as positronium-like bound states of spinning W-bosons in an theory. In each case, we describe the behaviour of the strings and examine the relation between the energy and the angular momentum of the bound state.
