Workflow Patterns in Process Modeling
Alexandra Fortis, Florin Fortis

TL;DR
This paper introduces workflow patterns in process modeling, focusing on executable models and standard terminology to enhance understanding and implementation of workflow-based systems.
Contribution
It provides a foundational overview of workflow patterns and terminology based on established standards, aiding in the development of executable process models.
Findings
Clarified basic workflow patterns and their terminology
Connected workflow patterns to executable process modeling
Established a standard terminology for workflow patterns
Abstract
This paper proposes an introduction to one of the newest modelling methods, an executable model based on workflows. We present the terminology for some basic workflow patterns, as described in the Workflow Management Coalition Terminology and Glossary.
