T-Duality as a Duality of Loop Group Bundles
Peter Bouwknegt (ANU), Varghese Mathai (Adelaide)

TL;DR
This paper presents a new geometric interpretation of T-duality in string theory as an interchange of momentum and winding in loop group bundles, providing deeper insight into the duality's structure.
Contribution
It introduces a novel perspective by modeling T-duality through principal loop group bundles, linking string compactification data with bundle geometry.
Findings
T-duality corresponds to swapping momentum and winding homomorphisms.
Loop group bundles encode string background data with H-flux.
Provides a geometric framework for understanding T-duality.
Abstract
Representing the data of a string compactified on a circle in the background of H-flux in terms of the geometric data of a principal loop group bundle, we show that T-duality in type II string theory can be understood as the interchange of the momentum and winding homomorphisms of the principal loop group bundle, thus giving rise to a new interpretation of T-duality.
