The Strange Quark Polarisation from Charged Kaon Production on Deuterons
R.Windmolders

TL;DR
This paper derives the strange quark helicity distribution Delta s(x) from semi-inclusive and inclusive spin asymmetries measured by COMPASS, highlighting the importance of fragmentation function ratios into positive kaons.
Contribution
It provides a leading-order extraction of Delta s(x) from experimental data, emphasizing the role of fragmentation function ratios in the analysis.
Findings
Delta s(x) distribution derived from experimental data
Significance depends on sbar/u quark fragmentation ratios
Highlights importance of fragmentation functions in spin asymmetry analysis
Abstract
The strange quark helicity distribution Delta s(x)is derived at LO from the semi-inclusive and inclusive spin asymmetries measured by the COMPASS experiment at CERN. The significance of the results is found to depend critically on the ratio of the sbar and u quark fragmentation functions into positive kaons.
