On the Ricci dark energy model
Kyoung Yee Kim, Hyung Won Lee, and Yun Soo Myung

TL;DR
This paper critically examines the Ricci dark energy model, revealing that its accelerating phase is equivalent to a constant dark energy model, thus questioning its novelty as an explanation for cosmic acceleration.
Contribution
The study clarifies that the Ricci dark energy model does not introduce a fundamentally new mechanism for acceleration, aligning it with constant dark energy models.
Findings
RDE's acceleration phase is equivalent to a constant dark energy model
RDE may not be a distinct alternative to existing dark energy models
Challenges the novelty of RDE as a separate explanation for cosmic acceleration
Abstract
We study the Ricci dark energy model (RDE) which was introduced as an alternative to the holographic dark energy model. We point out that an accelerating phase of the RDE is that of a constant dark energy model. This implies that the RDE may not be a new model of explaining the present accelerating universe.
