White Dwarf Spectra and Atmosphere Models
Detlev Koester

TL;DR
This paper reviews the spectral classification of white dwarfs and details the physics and computational methods used in modeling their atmospheres, enhancing understanding of their physical properties.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive overview of the physics and computational techniques for modeling white dwarf atmospheres, which is essential for accurate spectral analysis.
Findings
Detailed description of spectral classification methods
Discussion of key physical processes in white dwarf atmospheres
Overview of computational approaches for atmosphere modeling
Abstract
We describe the spectral classification of white dwarfs and some of the physical processes important for their understanding. In the major part of this paper we discuss the input physics and computational methods for one of the most widely used stellar atmosphere codes for white dwarfs.
