Search for the Z(4430)^- at BABAR
The BABAR Collaboration: B. Aubert, et al

TL;DR
This study searched for the exotic Z(4430)^- particle in B meson decays using BABAR data but found no significant evidence, setting upper limits on its production rates.
Contribution
First comprehensive search for Z(4430)^- in specific B decay channels with detailed analysis of kinematic distributions and no observed signal.
Findings
No significant Z(4430)^- signal detected.
Set upper limits on branching fractions for Z(4430)^- production.
Kπ distributions explained by known resonances and scattering amplitudes.
Abstract
We report the results of a search for decay to or in and decays. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider operating at center of mass energy 10.58 \gev, and the sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 413 fb. Each mass distribution exhibits clear and signals, and the efficiency-corrected spectrum is well-described by a superposition of the associated Breit-Wigner intensity distributions, together with an -wave contribution obtained from the LASS scattering amplitude measurements. Each angular distribution varies significantly in structure with mass, and is represented in terms of low-order Legendre polynomial moments. We find…
