TL;DR
This paper reviews the 30-year development of the BSW impact picture model for proton-proton and antiproton-proton elastic scattering, emphasizing its evolution and future experimental tests at the LHC.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive review of the BSW impact picture model's history and discusses how upcoming LHC experiments will test its predictions.
Findings
BSW model successfully described elastic scattering 30 years ago
Evolution of the impact picture over the years
Future LHC experiments will critically test the model's predictions
Abstract
Thirty years ago Bourrely-Soffer-Wu (BSW) investigated an impact picture description of and elastic scattering with success. For this anniversary, a short review of the main features of this picture will be presented with its evolution over the years. The future experiments at the LHC collider will provide decisive tests for the impact picture at high energy.
