TL;DR
This paper presents a detailed angular analysis of specific B meson decays, measuring CP-violation parameters, polarization fractions, and resolving phase ambiguities using a large data sample from the BaBar detector.
Contribution
It provides the first measurement of the CP-violation phase difference and polarization fractions in these decay modes, revealing a need for a positive-helicity amplitude from an unknown source.
Findings
Measured CP-violation phase difference Δφ₀ = 0.28 ± 0.42 ± 0.04.
Determined longitudinal polarization fractions: 0.494 ± 0.034 ± 0.013 and 0.901^{+0.046}_{-0.058} ± 0.037.
Identified a polarization pattern indicating a positive-helicity amplitude from an unknown source.
Abstract
We perform a time-dependent and time-integrated angular analysis of the decays , , and with the final sample of about 465 million pairs recorded with the detector. Twenty-four parameters are investigated, including the branching fractions, CP-violation parameters, and parameters sensitive to final-state interactions. We use the dependence on the invariant mass of the interference between the scalar and vector or tensor components to resolve discrete ambiguities of the strong and weak phases. We use the time-evolution of the channel to extract the CP-violation phase difference between the and decay amplitudes. When the channel is included, the fractions of longitudinal polarization of the…
