TL;DR
This paper employs a dynamical coupled-channels approach to analyze the eta-meson production mechanism in pion-proton reactions, highlighting the limitations of relying solely on total cross section data for understanding the reaction dynamics.
Contribution
It introduces a comprehensive coupled-channels model to better understand the eta production mechanism, emphasizing the importance of detailed data analysis beyond total cross sections.
Findings
Total cross section data alone can be misleading in reaction mechanism analysis.
The coupled-channels formalism provides deeper insights into eta-meson production.
Study covers energies from threshold up to 2 GeV.
Abstract
A dynamical coupled-channels formalism is used to investigate the meson production mechanism on the proton induced by pions, in the total center-of-mass energy region from threshold up to 2 GeV. We show how and why studying exclusively total cross section data might turn out to be misleading in pinning down the reaction mechanism.
