Spin-Orbit Correlations
Matthias Burkardt

TL;DR
This paper explores the relationship between parton distribution deformations and single-spin asymmetries, using lattice QCD results to estimate the transverse force on quarks in SIDIS.
Contribution
It provides a novel connection between impact parameter space deformations and spin asymmetries, supported by lattice calculations of twist-3 distributions.
Findings
Lattice results for g_2(x) are used to estimate the transverse force on quarks.
The connection between parton distribution deformations and asymmetries is clarified.
Insights into the instant after quark scattering in SIDIS are provided.
Abstract
We summarize the intuitive connection between deformations of parton distributions in impact parameter space and single-spin asymmetries. Lattice results for the -moment of the twist-3 polarized parton distribution are used to estimate the average transverse force acting on the active quark in SIDIS in the instant after being struck by the virtual photon.
