Chirped-pulse oscillators: an impact of the dynamic gain saturation
Vladimir L. Kalashnikov

TL;DR
This paper investigates how dynamic gain saturation affects chirped-pulse oscillators, revealing that it causes pulse front perturbations and limits energy growth and operational dispersion ranges.
Contribution
It demonstrates the destabilizing effect of dynamic gain saturation on chirped-pulse oscillators and defines the operational limits imposed by this phenomenon.
Findings
Dynamic gain saturation causes pulse front perturbations.
It destabilizes the chirped-pulse oscillator.
Limits energy growth and dispersion range.
Abstract
An effect of the dynamic gain saturation on chirped-pulse oscillator was investigated. It was found, that the dynamic gain saturation causes strong perturbations of the pulse front that destabilizes an oscillator. As a result, the chirped-pulse exists only within some limited range of dispersions and there is a limit of energy growth for a given resonator period.
