Pradeep Kiran Sarvepalli, Andreas Klappenecker

TL;DR
This paper explores efficient encoding methods for subsystem quantum error correcting codes, demonstrating reductions to stabilizer code encoding and leveraging gauge qubits to simplify the process.
Contribution
It introduces a method to encode subsystem codes via related stabilizer codes and shows how to exploit gauge qubits for reduced encoding complexity.
Findings
Encoding of subsystem codes can be reduced to stabilizer code encoding.
Clifford codes can be encoded using the proposed methods.
Gauge qubits can be exploited to lower encoding complexity.
Abstract
In this paper we investigate the encoding of operator quantum error correcting codes i.e. subsystem codes. We show that encoding of subsystem codes can be reduced to encoding of a related stabilizer code making it possible to use all the known results on encoding of stabilizer codes. Along the way we also show how Clifford codes can be encoded. We also show that gauge qubits can be exploited to reduce the encoding complexity.
