Medium properties and jet-medium interaction from STAR
Jana Bielcikova (for the STAR Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper presents STAR experiment results on medium modifications in heavy-ion collisions, focusing on the ridge phenomenon and shape changes in away-side correlations to explore jet-medium interactions and possible shock wave signatures.
Contribution
It provides new insights into the properties of the quark-gluon plasma through detailed analysis of particle correlations and introduces observations of the ridge and modified away-side peaks.
Findings
Observation of the ridge phenomenon in heavy-ion collisions
Shape modification of away-side correlations at low and intermediate pT
Evidence supporting jet-medium interaction effects
Abstract
We report recent STAR results on medium modification of 2- and 3-particle correlations in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC. In particular properties of an additional extended correlation in pseudo-rapidity (``the ridge''), not present in p+p or d+Au collisions, are discussed. Next, the shape modification of the away-side correlation peak at low- and intermediate- is investigated to look for signals of Mach cone shock waves or \v{C}erenkov gluon emission.
