Transformation media that turn a narrow slit into a large window
Xiaohe Zhang, Huanyang Chen, Xudong Luo, Hongru Ma

TL;DR
This paper introduces a metamaterial-based transformation media approach to replace a large window with a narrow slit, maintaining the same transmittance, demonstrated through numerical simulations.
Contribution
It proposes a novel method using transformation media theory to design metamaterials that mimic the optical properties of large windows with narrow slits.
Findings
Numerical simulations confirm the effectiveness of the designed metamaterials.
The method achieves equivalent transmittance as large windows using narrow slits.
The approach is demonstrated in a two-dimensional model.
Abstract
Based on the transformation media theory, the authors propose a way to replace a wide window with a narrow slit filled with designed metamaterial to achieve the same transmittance as the one of the window. Numerical simulations for a two dimensional case are given to illustrate the ideas and the performance of the design.
