TL;DR
This paper investigates the phase diagram of a bosonic ladder with two coupled chains, revealing how inter-chain hopping influences the critical interaction for the superfluid to Mott insulator transition.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed phase diagram of a bosonic ladder considering inter-chain hopping effects using DMRG methods.
Findings
Critical on-site interaction $U_C$ increases with inter-chain hopping $t_\bot$
Superfluid to Mott insulator transition analyzed in the $t_\bot - U$ plane
Quantum phase transition characterized in a coupled bosonic ladder
Abstract
We study a bosonic ladder with two coupled chains using the finite size density matrix renormalisation group method. We show that in a commensurate bosonic ladder the critical on-site interaction () for the superfluid to Mott insulator transition becomes larger as the inter-chain hopping ()increases. We analyze this quantum phase transition and obtain the phase diagram in the plane.
