Open-Closed String Correspondence in Open String Field Theory
Marco Baumgartl, Ivo Sachs

TL;DR
This paper explores how changes in closed string backgrounds can be represented as collective excitations of open strings within background independent open string field theory, with an application to group manifolds.
Contribution
It introduces a formalism linking closed string background shifts to open string excitations, specifically applied to group manifolds.
Findings
Closed string background shifts correspond to open string collective excitations.
The formalism is successfully applied to group manifold backgrounds.
Provides a new perspective on background changes in string theory.
Abstract
We address the problem of describing different closed string backgrounds in background independent open string field theory: A shift in the closed string background corresponds to a collective excitation of open strings. As an illustration we apply the formalism to the case where the closed string background is a group manifold.
