CPT conserving cosmological birefringence
C. Q. Geng, S. H. Ho, J. N. Ng

TL;DR
This paper shows that cosmological birefringence can result from a CPT-conserving, dimension-six Chern-Simons-like term, potentially explaining observed polarization rotation in cosmic microwave background data.
Contribution
It introduces a CPT-conserving mechanism for cosmological birefringence using a novel dimension-six Chern-Simons-like term.
Findings
A sizable polarization rotation angle can be induced by this effect.
The mechanism is consistent with current CMB polarization observations.
Abstract
We demonstrate that the cosmological birefringence can arise from CPT conserving effect, originated from the CPT-even dimension-six Chern-Simons-like term. We show that a sizable rotation polarization angle in the data of the cosmic microwave background radiation polarization can be induced.
